After SkinPen microneedling or LaseMD Ultra, we may use the Hydrinity Restorative HA+ Masque or a cooling biocellulose masque to provide immediate hydration and soothing support while the skin is warm and sensitive.

What to Use During the First 24 Hours After SkinPen
SkinPen microneedling creates controlled microchannels in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural remodeling response.
Immediately afterward, the skin may appear pink or red and can feel warm, tight or sensitive.
At MiraMed, we generally recommend keeping skincare extremely simple during the first 24 hours after SkinPen. Our typical protocol focuses on:

- Avoiding your usual active skincare products
- Avoiding direct sun exposure
During this initial period, we generally have patients hold products such as retinoids, exfoliating acids, stronger vitamin C formulas, scrubs and benzoyl peroxide.
We also typically keep the first 24 hours free of cleansing or sunscreen unless your MiraMed provider gives you different instructions, which makes avoiding direct sunlight especially important.
Once you are cleared to resume cleansing and sunscreen, we prefer adding a gentle cleanser and gentle mineral SPF and continuing the Hydrinity products throughout the remainder of the first week.

What to Use During the First 24 Hours After LaseMD Ultra
We take a similarly simple approach after LaseMD Ultra.
LaseMD Ultra uses a fractional thulium laser to create microscopic treatment zones in the skin. After treatment, you may notice:
- Redness
- Warmth
- Tightness
- Dryness
- A sandpaper-like texture
- Tiny dark flakes known as MENDs
During the first 24 hours after Ultra, we generally recommend HYACYN ACTIVE and Restorative HA Serum without adding your normal skincare products or sunscreen, unless your provider specifically instructs you otherwise.
Direct sun exposure should be avoided during this period.
Once cleared to resume sunscreen, a gentle mineral SPF is our preferred choice, along with continued use of the Hydrinity products throughout the first week.
As the skin continues recovering, MENDs and flaking skin should be allowed to shed naturally. Avoid scrubbing, picking or exfoliating them away.

Once your provider clears you to begin adding products back into your routine, post-treatment skincare can still remain very simple.
