Chemical peels use a medical-grade solution to exfoliate damaged surface layers of skin and encourage skin renewal. VI Peel appointments at MiraMed take about 30 minutes, including skin preparation, application of the peel, and post-treatment instructions. Downtime is typically about 5-7 days: peeling often begins around days 2-3, is most noticeable around days 3-5, and usually tapers off by about day 7. Results typically begin to appear once peeling is complete, around 7 days after treatment, with improvements in pigmentation, acne, texture, and fine lines continuing over the following 2-4 weeks. A series of 3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is recommended for more corrective concerns.
