What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to target deeper layers of the skin. This minimally invasive procedure stimulates collagen production and tissue remodeling. Morpheus8 can be used on many areas that can benefit from sub-dermal renewal. Most frequently, Morpheus8 is used to treat the lower face and neck, offering results similar to a facelift, but without surgery. Areas of the face and body that have wrinkles, discoloration, sagging, stretch marks, or acne scarring are especially suitable for this treatment.
How Does Morpheus8 Work?
Morpheus8 works by using a handheld subdermal adipose remodeling device (SARD) that delivers radiofrequency energy through a matrix of microneedles. These microneedles create tiny punctures in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing process to stimulate collagen production. The radiofrequency energy heats deeper skin and fat, promoting further collagen and elastin production to tighten the underlying tissues. Two or three treatment sessions are recommended to achieve the most effective results.
What to Expect During Morpheus8 Treatment
When you come to MiraMed and Day Spa for a Morpheus8 treatment, here’s what you can expect:
- Consultation: A thorough consultation with our medical provider via telehealth for a Good Faith Exam to ensure your medical history does not interfere with treatment.
- Preparation: Once cleared by our medical provider, the treatment area will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream may be applied to minimize discomfort.
- Treatment: One of our nurses will use the Morpheus8 device over the treatment area, delivering fractionated RF energy through the microneedles. The procedure typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
- Post-Treatment Care: After the treatment, you may experience redness and mild swelling, similar to a sunburn, which typically subsides within a few days. Patients should moisturize the treated area and avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours. We recommend always wearing a good, broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least 50 SPF. Makeup may be applied 3 days post-treatment. Gym environments and exercise must be avoided for 24 hours following treatment. Our team will provide you with more detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal results.
